Camping in Deep Creek Hot Springs
For labor day weekend, me and one of my best friends, Henrik, packed our camping gear and headed out to Deep Creek Hot Springs! Now, this was kind of big deal for me; because it was my first time camping! I thought I'd do something that's a bit out of my comfort zone to experience nature in a more authentic way! And man, it was fun! As a matter a fact, I can't wait to do it again.
If you live in L.A., the trip to Deep Creek is fast and smooth. It takes roughly two hours to get there. If you want just a day trip, that's totally doable - just make sure you head out early and bring plenty of water and food. The Deep Creek Hot Springs is located in the Deep Creek drainage, outside the city of Hesperia. The easiest access is through the Bowen Ranch Road, which accesses the site through private land where you can camp (a fee of $10/person is charged). We decided to camp out for one night, then take the trail down early the next morning. It's quite a hajk, and the trail descends steeply for 2 1/2 miles to the springs. I recommend good shoes and walking very slowly.
We spent the day swimming and relaxing in the thermal hot (they were VERY hot) springs and snap pictures in the beautiful lush surroundings. Here's a little photo diary of our trip!
